turkish airlines ladies open logo 2The Turkish Airlines Ladies Open was being played from the 5th to the 8th May 2011 at the National Golf Club Belek Antalya . Made up of 126 professional players from over 30 countries, the young and talented golfers competed for a 250.000 € prize fund.

The 18-hole course (par 72,  6403m), designed is overall difficult and slightly undulating, with narrow tree-lined fairways, lots of water hazards (9) and small greens protected by deep bunkers.

This is the 2nd tournament of the year for Rachel and what a great score! She finished 11th on 4 over par, after shooting the lowest round of the final day, which was a three under gross 70. Apart from receiving her first pay cheque on the Ladies European Tour, she is very happy with the result having the lowest score of the day, which boosted her confidence even more as she “feels like able to compete in these tournaments and not just try and make cuts”.

Golf in France: You should be well satisfied with your result. Looking back on the event and your game, what would you say?

Rachel: I just need to limit the amount of mistakes I make on the golf course and then, this result will happen more often! To sum up the week my game is getting back where it was at its best two years ago and I am very excited about the rest of the year.

GIF: What good memory you will keep from that event? Is there anything you would like to share with us and the readers?

R: The most enjoyable day was the Saturday when my group consisted of Sophie Gustfason, who had won 25 worldwide events and has played in 7 Solheim cups. To play with someone with so much experience was exciting and I learnt a lot that day.
